EgyptAir Plane Hijacked And Forced To Land In Cyprus

by onMarch 30, 2016

An EgyptAir Plane Flying From Alexandria To Cairo Was Hijacked Just This Tuesday

Mid-air and in route to Cairo, the pilot of EgyptAir flight MS181 reported a suicide bomb threat on board and diverted to land at the Larnaca airport in Cyprus.

Reports have been released stating that the man responsible is an Egyptian national named Seif El Din Mustafa. He apparently hi-jacked the plane over issues with his ex-wife, who lives in Cyprus. President of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades told reporters the hijacking was not related to “terrorism.” By that we believe he means not related to “Islamic” terrorism. Interesting choice of words, grouping them as one in the same…Anyone who hijacks a plane and disturbs the peace/world like this is a ‘terrorist’ of some sort.

When the commotion started, the pilot of the EgyptAir flight diverted to Larnaca Airport and landed immediately. A hostage situation then ensued on the runway.

After an hour of negotiations Seif agreed to let the 55 passengers go. Seven people remained on the plane while negotiations were ongoing. The people that stayed were the captain, the co-pilot, a female stewardess, three foreign passengers, and a security official. Eventually Seif was talked down and is now in custody.

Around 3 p.m. the people who remained behind departed the plane. Another video picked up a man jumping from the cockpit window and running off…sources do not know who this is

British Prime Minister David Cameron’s Spokesperson stated this about the situation:

“The national security adviser is chairing a meeting of senior officials from across Whitehall now to review the situation, get the latest on what we know.”

“Our diplomats on the ground are in touch with the Cyprian authorities and with the airport.”

“The most important thing is that we ensure that everyone is safe and we get to the bottom of exactly what’s happened.”
