Hiking. It seems like a safe enough pastime. Going up hills and mountains on well cut trails. Occasionally you have to cross a rickety bridge, but they always hold up! Don’t they? Well not this time, and not for these hikers.
While in New Zealand on a hiking/backpacking trip, these travelers came up to what appeared to be a relatively sturdy metal/cable bridge. Without hesitation they began to cross, and all seemed well.
Then, bam! The three hikers were suddenly and forcefully thrown from the bridge into the water below. Luckily it wasn’t very high up and they were all fine. Just a bit wet!
It appears that a cable snapped, making the bridge lose support on the right side. This led to it’s sudden tipping to the right as the hikers weight forced it down.
