As we speak the Solar Impulse 2 aircraft that we reported on a week ago is on it’s way from Hawaii, where it had undergone repairs and testing, to Mountain View, California. You can watch the live feed below here on CHIRP! Currently over the coast of California, it’s nearing it’s destination at Mountain View.
Flying through the night, the Solar Impulse 2 is over 80% complete with it’s journey and should be landing in Mountain View early tomorrow morning. All reports have been good as the flight to complete another leg of it’s round the world journey goes smoothly.
Starting it’s around the world journey from Abu Dhabi in 2015 with stops in Myanmar, China, Japan and Hawaii, this is it’s ninth leg of the trip.
“I don’t know how many airplanes can hear that they still have 17 hours to go. It’s good to have no fuel.” -Bertrand Piccard, One of the two ‘Solar Impulse 2’ pilots
Taking of a bit behind schedule on Thursday to to high winds, the plane left from Hawaii. The crew then packed up all ground gear and headed to Mountain View to meet the Solar two and it’s pilot tomorrow morning.
