Virtual reality company NextVR is pushing the bounds of live streaming. Have you ever wanted to, from the comfort of your home, experience a boxing match, political debate, car race or…now a concert!?
Well that’s what Next VR has already done (for the first three) and plans to do with concerts. Teaming up with Live Nation they plan to “broadcast hundreds of live, cutting-edge performances in virtual reality to music fans worldwide.”
Promising a “regular supply of world-class live music shows”, streams will be available through Samsung’s Gear VR via Oculus Home. The company says the first of its musical VR events will take place this summer, with a full schedule for the following year to come.
With Live Nation being one of the biggest names in live performance, NextVR has set themselves up for success. With events from such as Riverdance and Bryan Adams, to pop idols Rihanna and Beyoncé, Next VR can use these big names to help get more people into virtual reality gear. Which, beyond making money, is their ultimate goal.
